Synopsis

On a Caribbean island inhabited by the survivors of a slave shipwreck, a young priestess must overcome her insecurity, defy tradition and step into her power to save her people from impending danger.

Ina Sotirova Ina Sotirova is a storyteller passionate about the world's diverse cultures, their unique traditions and expressions, and the people who make them come alive. Building on her solid background in journalism and photography, she started making films in 2011 and her debut short doc, freedom2dance, won the prestigious Du-Pont/Judy F. Crichton award for visual storytelling. Agwe is her first fiction/animation film and was in large part inspired by her family's deep appreciation of African art and culture. Originally from Bulgaria, Ina lives in Jamaica where she also teaches and mentors inner-city youths at the UWI Community Film Project.
